It’s a lot more than you can guess.

The US stock market has been recording newer heights every passing week and a lot can be attributed to the bull runs of the technology giants.

Let us look specifically at Apple today.

56% growth in share price in just 3 months. It is also due for a 4 for 1 split next week.

Let’s say you bought 1 share of Apple before its first-ever stock split on 16th June 1987.

It was trading at $79 apiece then.

After the stock split, your 1 share would have become 2 shares.

Now that you have two shares, you stay invested in Apple for 13 long years and on 21st June 2000, Apple goes through its second stock split.

It is 2 for 1 stock split again and your 2 shares have now become 4.

You strongly believe in the company and continue to stay invested. On 28 February 2005, the next 2 for 1 stock split happens.

Your 4 shares (each worth around $90) have become 8 shares now.
